Liquid Metal TIMs require very little material be used, if too much is used and the excess is not clean up or squeezed out prior to add the board to the tank, there is a possibility that the TIM will enter the fluid. However, liquid metal TIMs are not soluable in any of our Dielectric Fluids, and they are quite dense compared to our fluids. Because of their density the liquid metal TIMs will collect on the bottom of the immersion tank where they can be easily removed with a wet/dry vac extractor. We've not had a situation where a liquid metal TIM has caused a short or failure scenario in our testing or at a customer. That said the volume of excess TIM, regardless composition, should be kept to the minimum required to fill the gap between the chip and heat spreader.
