Very sorry to hear about your heat exchanger leak. While this is rare; it does occur. The only way to predict this is pressure-testing the system before filling it with BitCool Fluid.
Detection of water ingress in BitCool Coolant (or any other dielectric fluid) is not as easy as one might think. Measurement is pH or conductivity don't work well - there is no pH in a nonionic fluid (pH is a measure of hydrogen ions). By the time that a conductivity meter would register the change in conductivity of the fluid, there would be so much water in it that your miners would be ruined anyway.
Moisture content, dielectric strength or volume resistivity, all laboratory tests, are the only way to detect moisture ingress. All of these are difficult to measure in real-time (they require that you take a sample and bring it to our lab for testing). None of them are practical to add to a mining system.
This is why we recommend dry cooler radiators for heat exchange, rather than liquid-liquid systems. Unless you're capturing the heat for reuse, a single-loop dry system is simpler, less expensive and lower maintenance than a dual-loop system.
