Does ElectroCool or AmpCool react with Lithium or other alkali metals used in batteries?
We are developing direct liquid cooled batteries and we have a major safety issue with using water/glycol coolants in lithium ion and lithium hybrid batteries. In addition to the water coolant leaking into the interior of the battery and causing them to short circuit and forcing the battery into thermal overload, we have experienced spontaneous combustion of the batteries when the lithium and électrolytes come into contact with the water. In our testing of Electrical Vehicles in accidents it is not uncommon to have the batteries deformed and the pouches or cells burst squeezing out into the battery anodes, cathodes and electrolyte into the water based coolant coolant.
